Typeform and SurveyConvo compared
| Criterion | SurveyConvo | Typeform |
|---|---|---|
| Product shape | A focused platform for configurable Convo Agents that run voice-first feedback and research Conversations. | Research Flow is an end-to-end qualitative and quantitative research product. Typeform Forms remains a separate, broader form and workflow platform. |
| Respondent experience | A live voice-first AI conversation. Text is available during the same Conversation. | Real-time AI-moderated sessions in text, voice, or voice plus video. Mid-session mode switching is not publicly documented. |
| Follow-up | The AI covers required questions and asks selective follow-ups based on what the respondent says. | Researchers can allow no follow-ups or up to three AI-generated probes for each research question. |
| Question design | An interview guide with a goal, instructions, and ordered required questions; not a general-purpose transactional form builder. | Research Flow combines open text, structured choices, screeners, and image stimuli. Core Typeform Forms offers a much broader form toolkit. |
| Distribution and recruitment | Share Page, iframe, and floating widget for your own audience. No built-in participant panel. | Links, multiple embed formats, your own audience, and panel recruitment through research partners. |
| Analysis | Transcript and recording when applicable, plus summary, sentiment, structured findings, and recommended actions. | Summaries, themes, sentiment, charts, supporting quotes, transcripts, session deep dives, and voice or video highlights. |
| Pricing access | Public plans and usage allowances are available on the SurveyConvo pricing page. | Research Flow directs buyers to contact sales. Core Typeform Forms pricing is separate and should not be treated as Research Flow pricing. |
The main difference: focused voice conversations or end-to-end research?
Typeform now has two relevant product stories. Its familiar Forms product handles forms, surveys, lead capture, and workflows. Its newer Research Flow product is a direct AI-moderated research offering that combines study design, recruitment, structured questions, conversations, and synthesis.
SurveyConvo is narrower by design. It focuses on Convo Agents—AI interviewers that conduct live, voice-first feedback and research Conversations. Owners configure the goal, instructions, and required questions, then invite their own respondents through a Share Page, iframe, or widget.
That makes this less a question of which company has more features and more a question of how much research infrastructure you need around the interview.
How the respondent experiences differ
Typeform documents Research Flow sessions in text, voice, or voice-plus-video formats. Participants join a real-time session with an AI moderator. In voice formats, questions can be spoken while their text remains visible.
SurveyConvo starts from a live spoken conversation. The Convo Agent listens, responds, covers the required questions, and asks follow-ups. Text is available inside the same Conversation, including when microphone access is unavailable or declined.
Typeform does not publicly document whether a respondent can change session format midway through a Research Flow session. It also does not publicly describe voice latency, interruption handling, or barge-in. Those details should be treated as unknown rather than assumed absent.
Mixed-method research versus an interview guide
Research Flow can combine open-ended discussion with multiple choice, dropdown, screener questions, and image stimuli. Researchers can control whether a question receives no follow-up or as many as three AI probes. This is useful when one study needs both comparable measures and qualitative explanation.
SurveyConvo uses an interview guide: a goal, behavioral instructions, and ordered required questions. The Convo Agent can ask selective follow-ups based on the respondent's answers while still covering the guide. SurveyConvo is not intended to replace a general-purpose form when the job is payments, signatures, deterministic validation, or structured data entry.
Choose Typeform when structured quantitative tasks and qualitative interviews must live in one study. Choose SurveyConvo when the core job is helping someone explain an experience, decision, expectation, or problem in their own words.
Recruitment and distribution
Research Flow supports direct links, inline embeds, popup formats, an organization's own audience, and participant recruitment through Prolific or User Interviews. That makes Typeform a stronger fit when sourcing and screening participants must be part of the same research workflow.
SurveyConvo assumes you already have access to the customers, users, employees, or other respondents you want to hear from. It provides Share Pages, iframes, and floating widgets, but it does not currently provide a participant panel.
For recurring customer feedback, bringing your own audience can be enough. For market research that depends on recruiting a carefully screened external sample, Typeform has the broader documented workflow.
Analysis and evidence
Typeform's Research Flow Insights includes summaries, themes, sentiment, charts, quotes, transcripts, session-level deep dives, and video or voice highlights. Its public documentation describes a comprehensive mixed-method reporting feature set.
SurveyConvo keeps each Conversation's transcript and recording when applicable alongside its generated summary, sentiment, structured findings, and recommended actions. The product is oriented toward understanding an individual Conversation and the results for a particular Convo Agent.
If your research deliverable depends on charts, multimedia reels, participant panels, and mixed-method synthesis, Typeform is the more complete documented suite. If the priority is a focused voice-first conversation and a clear record of what one person said, SurveyConvo is the more focused option.
Pricing and buying motion
Typeform currently asks buyers to contact sales for Research Flow. Prices shown for ordinary Typeform Forms should not be presented as Research Flow prices.
SurveyConvo publishes its plans and usage allowances. That does not make it the right choice for every team, but it lets a smaller team evaluate the commercial fit without first entering a sales-led research buying process.
Bottom line
Choose Typeform Research Flow for an end-to-end research program that combines structured questions, AI-moderated text or voice sessions, recruitment, video, and broad research reporting.
Choose SurveyConvo when you want a dedicated voice-first AI interviewer, already know whom you want to invite, and value a focused path from spoken customer context to findings and recommended actions.
