The main difference: asynchronous video or live AI interviewing?

VideoAsk is built around interactive video. A creator records or uploads prompts in advance, and respondents move through the experience asynchronously. SurveyConvo is built around a live AI interviewer that conducts the Conversation in the moment.

Both can collect spoken feedback, but they create very different experiences. VideoAsk puts the creator's face and prerecorded message at the center. SurveyConvo puts an AI-led voice exchange at the center.

VideoAsk is often the stronger fit for personalized sales, recruitment, testimonials, onboarding, and other high-touch video workflows. SurveyConvo is the closer fit when the goal is to interview someone and understand the reason behind an answer.

Respondent choice and human presence

VideoAsk open-ended steps can let a respondent reply by video, audio, or text. The creator can enable or remove those response methods. Respondents do not need a VideoAsk account.

VideoAsk also supports human live video calls on eligible plans. That should not be confused with a live AI interview: it is an escalation to a person.

SurveyConvo conducts a live spoken Conversation with a disclosed AI interviewer. Text is available inside the same Conversation. SurveyConvo does not currently collect respondent video.

Choose VideoAsk when seeing the respondent, showing the creator's face, or continuing a personal multimedia exchange is valuable. Choose SurveyConvo when a voice-first AI interviewer should lead the interaction without requiring the creator to prerecord every prompt.

Adaptive follow-up versus authored branching

VideoAsk conditional logic routes respondents through steps based on choices and rules created in advance. Creators can score answers, send people to different paths, and manually continue a conversation afterward through video, audio, or text replies.

VideoAsk's AI video chatbot adds an answer-aware path: it matches a respondent's live audio to creator-defined categories and routes them to prerecorded videos. Its official documentation does not describe this as open-ended AI probing during a standard submission, so it should not be presented as the same interaction as an AI research interviewer.

SurveyConvo owners define the interview goal, instructions, and required questions. The Convo Agent listens to each answer and asks a follow-up when it would add useful context, while continuing through the guide.

Use VideoAsk when an authored funnel or category-based route is the right experience. Use SurveyConvo when the next open-ended interview question should be composed from what the person says.

Question types and workflows

VideoAsk documents open-ended, multiple-choice, NPS, file-upload, calendar, button, and live-call steps. Those formats make it useful for lead qualification, appointment booking, candidate screening, testimonials, and customer-facing funnels.

SurveyConvo uses conversational interview questions rather than a broad form schema. It is strongest when the respondent needs to describe an experience, decision, expectation, or problem and the owner needs the explanation—not merely a routed outcome.

SurveyConvo is not a replacement for VideoAsk's scheduling, file upload, or respondent-video workflows. VideoAsk is not documented as the same kind of live AI-moderated interview.

Distribution and integrations

VideoAsk sharing includes unique links, social, email, SMS, QR codes, iframe and widget embeds, and source tracking. Its public product information also documents API, webhooks, and Zapier connections.

SurveyConvo provides a Share Page, iframe, and floating widget. Native workflow triggers and third-party connections are not current product capabilities.

VideoAsk has the broader documented marketing-workflow ecosystem. SurveyConvo covers direct sharing and website embedding for teams that can handle invitation and follow-through through their existing tools or a repeatable external workflow.

Analysis and pricing model

VideoAsk metrics include response and completion data, per-step answers, device and drop-off information, transcripts, and exports. VideoAsk's product updates document AI summaries for individual video or audio messages on eligible plans. The public material reviewed did not document cross-response thematic synthesis comparable to a dedicated qualitative research platform.

SurveyConvo preserves the transcript and recording when applicable, then produces a summary, sentiment, structured findings, and recommended actions.

VideoAsk has a free entry plan and paid plans that meter processed audio and video minutes. SurveyConvo publishes plans based on completed live Conversations. Because minutes and completed interviews measure different things, the quota numbers are not directly comparable.
